Who we are

Welcome to the Rochford Air Gun Club

This site has been designed to provide you with information about us, and what we can offer you as a potential new member.

We aim to promote interest for both the competitive and fun shooter alike, whilst at the same time promoting Air Rifle safety.

We shoot every other Sunday and cater for Air Rifles and Air Pistols. We hold various internal competitions on most shoot day’s. This all takes place in a private wooded area.

If you have never shot an air rifle before, and would like to try something different then come along and give it a go. Shooting an air rifle is not difficult, but hitting a small target over 100 feet away can be. Don’t worry if you don’t have a rifle, as we have a number of rifle’s you can try. We also have plenty of people who can give you free and impartial advice on the various types of rifles, pellets and other associated equipment.

Contact us now to arrange a visit.

If you just want somewhere safe to shoot, then non members are welcome on any shoot day (including competition days). Range fees apply. You’ll find that we are a very friendly bunch, and are always happy to welcome new members. Our membership covers a wide age range.

please note: anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult aged 21 or over.

We are a non-profit club, so any residue funds are used for the benefit of our members.

History of the club

The original club was called Thorpe Hall & Wakering FTC. It was based at Baldwin’s farm, Barling Magna, Essex. The club had been in existence for a number of years, and the site was an open field with various targets set at 10-50yds.

Tony and Karen Yates established a new club (with the same name) and moved to a wood situated between Hockley and Rochford. The new site was used for the first time in July 2006, and went down extremely well with all the members.

They worked tirelessly to set up and run the club. Their efforts will be greatly appreciated for many years to come.

As of January 2012 the club was re-named “Rochford Air Gun Club”, to be more fitting with our area location
